Through a long process of development that included the transformation of the KATEE Department of Electronics into the Department of Electronics of the National Technical University of Thessaloniki in 1983 and the establishment of the Department of Computer Science of the National Technical University of Thessaloniki in 1987, the two Departments were incorporated into the Technological Sector of the Universities in 2012. A pivotal point was in 2019, with the integration into the International Hellenic University (DIPAE) and the merger of the two Departments of the National Technical University of Thessaloniki into the Department of Computer Engineering and Electronic Systems with a five-year curriculum.
