Abstract:

The implementation of educational robotics (ER) programs is now widespread in the educational community and aims to foster 21st-century skills, including computational thinking and collaboration. In education, augmented reality (AR) has the potential to provide students with appropriate support and enable a variety of learning styles, but also to improve important skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. The optimal approach to the use of AR in a curriculum is likely to be based on a combination of different pedagogical approaches.

This research will aim to create a collaborative AR educational tool to support ER activities to foster computational thinking, collaboration, and motivation skills, in secondary school students. The tool will be developed on an appropriate augmented reality platform to be available for use on mobile devices. Appropriate pedagogical approaches will be used in the design of the tool while the educational robotics platform that will be utilized will be Lego Mindstorms EV3.
