The ever-growing number of devices requiring continuous wireless connectivity is posing great challenges. Once mainly used to provide wireless connectivity to laptops, Wi-Fi is nowadays a technology employed by an enormous number of heterogeneous devices Such diverse devices entail issues related both to the throughput required to assure a satisfactory Quality of Service, and to the spatial reuse management to provide a fair distribution among the nodes in the network. The newest revisions of the IEEE 802.11 standard plan to tackle them. The proposed thesis will aim to design both analytical models and algorithms to manage and optimize Medium Channel Access (MAC) mechanisms for the IEEE 802.11ax and 802.11be standards.
