Abstract:

The proposed dissertation aims to design, develop, and empirically evaluate a digital, personalized assistive technology system for teacher training in the critical and pedagogically documented
utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The need for such interventions emerges from the growing interest in integrating AI tools into educational practice, the absence of systematic teacher support, and the lack of programs focusing on the pedagogical dimension of AI.
The first phase of the dissertation will include systematic needs research through questionnaires and interviews with educators, aiming to map their pedagogical priorities, concerns, and difficulties.
The results of this phase will be used to design a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), which will incorporate mixed pedagogical methodology (critical pedagogy, experiential and applied learning, TPACK, etc.) and consist of 8–12 core modules with theoretical material, quizzes, reflection, and frequently asked questions. The system will additionally offer personalized examples and questions using LLM API (e.g., OpenAI), based on the user’s profile.
The architecture will be implemented using Django, Tailwind, and HTMX, ensuring flexibility, scalability, and functionality. The research contribution of the dissertation lies in developing an innovative assistive technology model and conducting a documented study of its impact on teachers’ attitudes, knowledge, and practices.
The project incorporates strong scientific potential for publications in journals in the fields of educational technology, artificial intelligence in education, and teacher professional development.
