Educational goals

The purpose of the course is the development applications with all the microcontroller PIC18F4550 in C language.. The CCS C compiler is used. The programmes are tested on a development board. Αlso the simulation program Proteus is used.

  • Import and output data through the parralel ports.
  • Develop applications with the use of external interrupts (INT0, INT1, INT2, Rb)
  • Develop applications with the use of timer modules (Timer0, Timer1, Timer2, Timer3). Measurement of time, frequency.
  • Develop applications with the use of PWM module
  • Write routines to read several type of keypads, e.g. 4X4 keypad
  • Tranfer data via the serial ports to other microcontrollers or PCs
  • Write routines to drive smart displays.
  • Write routines to drive step motor and servo motor applications
  • Write routines to drive three phase motors
  • Write routines to drive DC motors with the use of PWM
  • Develop applications with external clock (RTC)
  • Use the internal EEPROM and connect external EEPROM
  • Increase the number of ports by connecting external ICs
  • Connect the microcontroller to various types of sensors (humidity, temperature, pressure,...)
  • Create infrared control systems
  • Create multiple microcontroller systems
  • Program multicore PIC microcontrollers
  • Use microcontroller wireless communication modules
  • Connect the microcontroller to the internet (IOT)
  • Connect to the microcontroller wireless sensor systems
  • Suggest new methods of data assortment
  • Create new faster routines for data transfer
  • Evaluate microcontrollers for industrial applications
  • Measure the speed of data transfer in microcontroller systems
  • Compare the data transfer methods in microcontroller systems
  • Simulate with the Proteus program microcontroller applications
  • Design systems that incorporate many microcontrollers
